MIAMI FORENSICS
Expertise.
Psychology, criminology and forensic medicine contribute different kinds of evidence. We define the question first, then bring together the disciplines the case requires.
01
Forensic psychology ↗
Psychological injury and trauma
The psychological consequences of an event deserve a clear, documented explanation. We examine the reported changes, their impact and their relationship to the events at issue.
Memory and testimony
We examine the psychological conditions in which an account was perceived, remembered and communicated. The focus is the quality and limitations of information, rather than a promise to determine truth from a person’s appearance.
Decision-making capacity and vulnerability
A question about decision-making requires attention to the particular decision and the relevant point in time. We examine understanding, reasoning and vulnerability using the available evidence.
Mental state at the time of events
We study psychological functioning in relation to the questions raised by a criminal case, including retrospective questions about the time of the alleged events.
Psychological autopsy
A retrospective study of a deceased person’s psychological and behavioral context, drawing on documents and information from people who knew them.
Review of psychological expert reports
An independent review examines whether an expert opinion is supported by its sources, methods and reasoning. The assignment may concern psychological, criminological or medical evidence.
02
Criminology ↗
Violence and criminal dynamics
We organize the behavioral and contextual evidence of a case to examine the dynamics of an event and compare competing explanations.
Victimology
The relationship between people, their circumstances and the reported events can be central to understanding a case. We examine that context without replacing evidential analysis with assumptions.
Timeline and hypothesis analysis
A large file can obscure the sequence that matters. We connect documents, observations and expert findings into an organized account, distinguishing established information from inference.
03
Forensic medicine ↗
Injuries and bodily harm
We examine injury evidence and its relationship to the alleged mechanism, timeline and reported consequences, with an exclusively forensic purpose.
Analysis of medical care for legal proceedings
Medical records can answer legal questions when their chronology, findings and gaps are examined together. We provide forensic analysis of documented care and its relationship to the issues in dispute.
Death investigation and autopsy review
We review medical-forensic documentation of a death and examine the consistency of findings with the circumstances described in the case.
